1950年代中期、防空用要撃機としてノースロップ社が開発した機体がF-89【スコーピオン】。
そのテストのプロモーション用として撮影された写真の中に非常に興味深いジャケットと着たパイロットが2人立っていた。
赤いシェルに黒いリブ、そのジャケットはMA-1系のジャケットに相違は無く、写真のキャプション自体もその内容を示していた。
当時、莫大な国家予算を握っていた空軍が最も力を入れていたのが防空用要撃機であったことを考えると何とか次期主力要撃機の座を射止ようとするノースロップ社の意気込みが、こちらの赤いMA-1から感じる取ることができます。
その史実から、赤いMA-1はメインマテリアルである赤いナイロン素材を特別にオーダーして織り上げことから稀少性が高く、その生産ロットは数十着しか存在しなかった。半世紀を時を超え、燃えるように赤いMA-1が今よみがえる。

In the mid 1950"s the aircraft developed by Northrop as an air defense requirement was F-89 [Scorpion].
There were 2 pilots wearing a very interesting jacket in the photographs taken for promotion of the test.
Black ribs on the red shell the jacket for MA-1 type jacket was not different the caption itself in the photo also showed its contents.
When thinking that the air force that had held the huge national budget at the time was the air defense aircraft that had been putting the most emphasis on it the enthusiasm of Northrop Co. which somehow seems to shoot the seat of the next main aircraft You can take it from this red MA - 1 you feel.
Because of its historical facts the red MA - 1 has a high degree of scarcity because it woven by specially ordering the red nylon material which is the main material and only several dozen production lots existed. Half a century beyond time the red MA-1 burns as it is now reborn
